Original Yardie is a celebration of our Jamaican heritage. The word "yardie" is Jamaican patois for “of the yard” and refers to persons of Jamaican origin. The Independence Act was passed by the United Kingdom Parliament on July 19th, 1962, granting independence to Jamaica on August 6th, 1962. These tapered beeswax candles reflect the colors in the Jamaican flag. Green represents the land; Gold represents the wealth of the land and Black represent the creativity of the people.
The tapered candles are designed with modern curves. The texture is slightly rough, the seamlines are pronounced and because each layer is hand poured, there are color drips that will merge into another section. This aesthetics reflects the beauty that can be found in our lives, despite and because of our history. Each candle is 14" tall x 1" at its widest point and burns for approximately 28 hours.
The candles are unscented and burns clean. Add them to any dining room table centerpiece for a unique look, and a pop of warmth and light.
